Art+Life+Me

I am an artist working across the spheres of fine art and craft, working in printmaking, embroidery, drawing, collage and photography. I enjoy creating, imagining, laying pen to paper, thread to fabric, collage, printing, etching, writing, stitching, paper of all kinds, text, physical objects, forgotten objects, the disregarded, the decayed, the lonely. It has been two years since I graduated from Bradford School of Art, I have in that time lived in Bristol for over a year, had several exhibitions, moved to Manchester, started taking commissions, but also been un-employed, moved back to Halifax, really got into drawing again thanks to a day job in which not much thinking or concentrating on the actual job needs to take place, drawing has been my heart and minds saving grace. I am making things I love and hoping to get my foot on the ladder, exhibiting and selling at art fairs. I'm here and I hope to develop and progress, draw, inspire, create and with this blog I hope to make sense of ......art+life+me.

Exhibitions

Here I am with Paddy Hartley, curator of 'Brass' formerly 'Brahm' gallery in Leeds, such a wonderful private view...Thanks Paddy. The exhibition ran from January to March 2010, it was a great success, and I met some great people at my private view.

The exhibition above was at The Piece Hall Art Gallery in Halifax, the Piece Hall is the oldest standing cloth hall remaining in the UK, it was an honour to have my 'Remnants & Threads' series exhibited there, as it was a series inspired by the former textile industry in West Yorkshire. It's really beautiful space.  It was Oct to Nov 2009.

This exhibition was called 'Things Fall Apart' and was on a barge!!! The lovely Grain Barge in Bristol, it was a great space and my work fit in very well with the surroundings, it ran from June to August 2009.

On my moving to Bristol in 2008 after University, I volunteered at a beautiful volunteer run gallery called Centrespace.  I was asked to feature some pieces as part of the Volunteers Show, a great show and a great welcome to Bristol....although I didn't stay for long!  Centrespace was a great place for me to meet other artists and get involved in the ever growing Bristol art scene.
