Art+Life+Me

I am an artist working across the spheres of fine art and craft, working in printmaking, embroidery, drawing, collage and photography. I enjoy creating, imagining, laying pen to paper, thread to fabric, collage, printing, etching, writing, stitching, paper of all kinds, text, physical objects, forgotten objects, the disregarded, the decayed, the lonely. It has been two years since I graduated from Bradford School of Art, I have in that time lived in Bristol for over a year, had several exhibitions, moved to Manchester, started taking commissions, but also been un-employed, moved back to Halifax, really got into drawing again thanks to a day job in which not much thinking or concentrating on the actual job needs to take place, drawing has been my heart and minds saving grace. I am making things I love and hoping to get my foot on the ladder, exhibiting and selling at art fairs. I'm here and I hope to develop and progress, draw, inspire, create and with this blog I hope to make sense of ......art+life+me.

Personalised Art Commissions

The piece above was commissioned for 'Isla', it was a christening gift, I wanted to create something she could have on her wall forever, something using the bits and pieces I have found at vintage textile fairs, bits and pieces from women of other times.  The piece is called 'Little Girl, Little Lady'.  I take commissions so get in touch to give a unique gift.

The four images above are detailed shots of a textile installation I created as part of a series of works called 'Remnant and Threads', it was originally created as part of an artists book, it was installed ,'spilling' out of a page of the bookThe second time I exhibited it, it was wonderfully curated by Paddy Hartley, 'spilling' from the wall, with light beaming behind it.  There is a picture on my Exhibitions page.

The images above show a personal commission, its a large scale graphic embroidery piece , the singer of the band 'The Black Bloc', Michael Bush gave me some lyrics to one of the bands songs, I created this piece in response.
